Completed Events & Projects

A Basic Guide to International Humanitarian Law

Learn all about International Humanitarian Law through this free e-book designed by the IHL in the Bay team! This book also includes recipes from a variety of cultures in honor of our 2022 theme, the Preservation of Cultural Property. All of these recipe ideas came from participants from the IHL ASYNC Recipe Cookbook activity. This is also our last campaign activity for the 2022 year, but don't worry, we'll be back next year with more IHL info and a new theme :)

IHL Virtual Escape Room

1 hr ~ 1/23/22

To kick off a new year and a new campaign, the team researched, created, and hosted a Virtual Escape Room, with more than 30 attendees! We covered the fundamentals of IHL and presented on the Cultural Property theme, which participants could then apply their newly-learned knowledge to in the escape room challenge. We also received some valuable feedback on our presentation and organization skills, which we plan on improving during our next upcoming event.

IHL UNESCO Simulation

2 hrs - 2/27/2022

In the IHL UNESCO Simulation (inspired by Shark Tank), the attendees were tasked with working together and creating their own cultural property. We were so impressed with everyone's creative ideas, and it was super difficult to pick just two winners. Each member from the winning team won IHL merchandise, and every single attendee received two hours for participating in the event. Thank you to everyone who attended!

IHL ASYNC Lesson & Recipe Cookbook Activity

1.5 volunteer hours - Asynchronous event

In this IHL ASYNC Lesson and Recipe Cookbook Activity, participants were able to learn about IHL, cultural property and traditional recipes from around the world. This event was also asynchronous, and we had nearly 50 people register! Participants also provided us with recipes from their cultures, and we used them to feature on our e-book coming soon!

Asynchronous Interactive Presentation

1.5 hrs ~ 4/7/2021 - 4/24/2021

IHL in the Bay got so much great feedback from all participants in this event. The ASYNC presentation is a self-paced, interactive guide on IHL, powered by PearDeck. This was also our final event in the 2020-2021 IHL YAC.

IHL in the Bay's first & very successful presentation! We presented to a large audience of students (98+) that were all actively engaging (through chat & Kahoot), and everything went as planned. Super proud of this presentation since we got a lot of exposure and good feedback on our very first "in-person" activity!
